Privacy Policy — Groupify: Products Group

This Privacy Policy describes how OtheRiver ("we", "us", or "our"), developed by Alex Marcone, based in Teramo, Italy, collects, uses, and protects information in connection with the Shopify app Groupify: Products Group ("the App").
By installing and using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Who This Policy Applies To
This policy applies to Shopify merchants who install, configure, and use the App on their Shopify store.
The App is designed to help merchants link separate Shopify products and display them as visual swatches on product pages, collection pages, and search result pages.
The App does not intentionally collect personal information from storefront visitors.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Data Collected from Merchants
When a merchant installs and uses the App, we may collect and store the following information:
Shopify store domain
Shopify shop identifier
Shopify session and authentication tokens
Email address of the merchant or authenticated staff member
First name and last name of the Shopify user, if available
Language preference or locale
App configuration settings
Storefront display settings
Badge settings
Swatch style settings
2.2 Product and Group Data
To provide the App’s functionality, we collect and store product-related configuration data, including:
Shopify product IDs
Product titles
Product handles
Product images
Product group names
Option names shown on the storefront
Option values assigned by the merchant
Swatch colors
Custom swatch image URLs, if configured by the merchant
Product order inside groups
Product page swatch settings
Collection page swatch settings
Mobile style override settings
Status of product groups, such as active, draft, or archived
3. Data We Do Not Collect
The App does not collect:
Customer payment data
Shopify order data
Shopify customer records
Customer addresses
Cart data
Checkout data
Geolocation data
Marketing tracking data
Storefront visitor analytics
Swatch click analytics
Custom storefront cookies
Persistent IP address logs
Persistent user agent logs
The App is focused on product display and product grouping. It does not require access to Shopify customer or order data to operate.
The App may read technical request information temporarily as part of normal server rendering or security behavior, but it does not store IP addresses, user agents, storefront browsing behavior, or swatch click events in its database.
4. How We Use the Data
We use the collected data to:
Authenticate the merchant through Shopify
Operate the App inside Shopify admin
Let merchants create and manage product groups
Display linked products as color or image swatches
Render swatches on product pages, collection pages, and search result pages
Save swatch styles and storefront display preferences
Save badge, language, and app configuration settings
Provide support and troubleshoot technical issues
Comply with Shopify platform requirements and applicable laws
We do not sell merchant data or use it for advertising purposes.
5. Storefront Behavior
The App displays grouped product swatches on the storefront through a Shopify theme app extension.
When a storefront visitor interacts with a swatch, the App may direct the visitor to the corresponding grouped Shopify product.
The App does not intentionally collect personal information from storefront visitors during this process.
6. Third-Party Services
The App uses Shopify to install, authenticate, and operate within the Shopify platform. Shopify’s own privacy policy applies to data processed through Shopify’s infrastructure.
The App may also use hosting, database, and infrastructure providers required to operate the service.
We do not use advertising trackers, storefront analytics tools, or third-party marketing pixels inside the App.
7. Data Retention
Merchant configuration data and product group data are retained for as long as the merchant keeps the App installed.
When a merchant uninstalls the App, we may delete or anonymize App-related data in accordance with Shopify’s app requirements and our operational needs.
Some data may be retained for a limited period where required for backup, legal, security, or compliance purposes.
8. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the data processed by the App against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure.
All data is transmitted over encrypted connections using HTTPS.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we process.
9. Merchants' Rights
Merchants may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their data by contacting us at the email address below.
Merchants can also uninstall the App from their Shopify admin. Uninstalling the App will trigger data handling processes in accordance with Shopify’s requirements.
10. Shopify Privacy Webhooks
The App supports Shopify’s mandatory privacy and compliance webhooks.
Because the App does not normally collect Shopify customer data, customer-related privacy requests may result in confirmation that no matching customer data is stored by the App.
Shop data deletion requests are handled in accordance with Shopify’s requirements.
11. Merchant Responsibilities
Merchants are responsible for how they configure product groups, swatch labels, custom swatch images, badge texts, and storefront display settings.
Merchants are also responsible for ensuring that their use of the App complies with applicable privacy, consumer protection, accessibility, and ecommerce laws in their jurisdiction.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
